LTCC Student Art Show Shines Bright

S. LAKE TAHOE, CA, May 1, 2019 -- Student talents are on display right now at Lake Tahoe Community College, in a diverse collection of recent works for a three-week Art Show, opening May 19.

Genres represented include photography, printmaking, digital art, painting, drawing – and that’s only the 2-dimensional! Common areas of the main building are also alive with metal, mixed-media and ceramic sculptures, wall-hangings and functional vessels -- all made by LTCC students within the last year, which shines a flattering spotlight on the college’s robust arts program.

Local aspiring professional artist Sarah Metzler has 5 ceramic pieces in this, her first Student Art Show; she’s been taking classes at LTCC since fall 2018 as a returning student.

“The resources, inspiration and structure of the coursework, the teachers and my fellow students have helped my art practice immensely,” she says. “It’s rewarding to have been challenged and supported, and to see my work among so many other cool projects.”

Honors and prizes in each category will be awarded based on juror-and-Reno-artist Scott Robert Hudson’s consideration of the art’s craftsmanship and wit, among the 6 factors he names as “integral to how [he] think[s] about art.”

Refreshments will be served before the winners are announced on May 19. If you aren’t able to make the opening night, be sure to visit LTCC before June 4th and place a vote for People’s Choice. Exhibit volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions. More information at www.ltcc.edu
